“Zoya” First Impressions

Last weekend I started my fifth Danielle Steel novel, Zoya. This book is from the late 1980s and its Steel’s 23rd novel. At the time of writing this post, I was a little over 75 pages into the book. I was lucky enough to come across a first edition hardcover of this book that was in stellar condition. (Library book sales for the win!!) I have some interesting first impressions that I thought I’d share.

On Danielle’s Writing Style

Despite Danielle’s success as an author, she tends to be a rather shy person. She doesn’t grant interviews very often and in recent memory, I can only remember her having an on-screen interview once. It was last fall when she was on Good Morning, America and interviewed by Robin Roberts about her latest book release.

Of course when someone publishes numerous novels a year, having to do all those interviews for every single book can be time-consuming and exhausting!

“Until the End of Time” – Review III

  • Title: Until the End of Time
  • Year Published: January 2013
  • Published Novel Number: 87
  • Days to Read: 6
  • Overall Rating: 3.25

Wow!

I’ll admit, this book was a pretty fast read. Though I did put it down for a full day without touching it because I wasn’t sure I was ready to continue on with the story.

In essence, this book contained two separate stories that were linked together by the two couples’ love for each other. Of course, there was this underlying vibe that the second couple was really the first couple in some reincarnated form. I think this was Steel’s point with this book, though. However, she was almost too good at it.

“The Mistress” Book Review II

  • Title: The Mistress
  • Year Published: 2017
  • Publisher Novel Number: 103
  • Days to Read: 7 days
  • Overall Rating: 3.5

Over the weekend, I finished The Mistress by Danielle Steel. This book centered around the mistress to a wealthy Russian businessman who provided everything she needed, as long as she didn’t cross him. Supporting characters include a man who is an artist that falls in love with Natasha (the mistress), his mother, her boyfriend, and of course, the Russian businessman.

Set against the backdrop of the south of France, Paris, Italy, and the ocean, this novel took the readers inside a world that very few know anything about. Being a mistress to a billionaire. Now, the term mistress in this book does not mean that the Russian businessman is married. He isn’t. And neither is Natasha. She ended up being owned by him. This interesting position ended up causing the character to grow quite a bit over the course of the novel.

“The Cottage”: Book Review I

  • Title: The Cottage
  • Year Published: 2002
  • Published Novel Number: 54
  • Days to Read: 10 days
  • Overall Rating: 3 stars

It’s finished! I’ve finally finished the first Danielle Steel book for this project!

When I finished this book, I was overjoyed. First, I was shocked that I actually finished a DS novel. It was something I could never see myself doing. It also showed me that maybe completing this project was a possibility. Granted, I know that I still have over 150 more books to read (and they just keep coming!), but still I was very excited. Frankly, I’m looking forward to the next one and lining up which ones will be read when.

The First Book

Hello and welcome back!

Thank you for stopping by once again. As this site grows I hope that you will stop by every now and then and find some solace between these electronic pages. May it be a little break from the busy day you’re having, or perhaps you’re a Danielle Steel fan, too and you’re looking for camaraderie.

It’s been a few days since my first post and I’ve thought long and hard about which book I wanted to read first. I knew it would be an important decision. This would be THE BOOK that I would always remember as “the one that started it all.” It was actually quite a tough decision to make.
